… then it dawned on me.
For everyone who thought they could do it all and it didn’t quite go according to plan, and for everyone who believes they still can do it all (hi, it’s me), this one’s for you.
As I celebrate my 200 Day Streak of Creativity Everyday, my key takeaway is that creating consistently requires a spaciousness in scheduling creative time. While I’ve broadly expanded my creative capacity to explore — with that expansion of doing more projects *yay* comes the natural limitation of making time for them, as well as figuring out how to prioritize and energetically sustain those commitments.
I love to do everything and prioritizing that is extremely challenging for me. I get it done because I have to, in order to do all the everything I need to do. However, the process of discerning between the high-pri options for fun and creativity that I want to explore can be … a lot. No matter the circumstances, somewhere deep down I’m convinced that if I can only strategize, optimize, maximize— I can do it all, be present, and enjoy the process. No fear of missing out. Sound familiar?
The faulty premise upon which I’d scheduled my family’s summer break adventures — a time that I had intended to be for deep rest and relaxation, major progress on my writing projects, and All The Summer Fun— was that I had enough time.
